What is Crypto Profit Calculator?

A Crypto Profit Calculator helps you determine the gains or losses from your cryptocurrency investments. By inputting your purchase price, selling price, investment amount or coin quantity, and any transaction fees, the tool calculates key metrics like Net Profit/Loss, Return on Investment (ROI), and the exact Break-even selling price required to recover your transaction expenses.

How to use

  1. 1 Select your input method: choose 'Investment' to specify how much USD you spent, or 'Quantity' to specify the amount of coins purchased.
  2. 2 Enter the purchase price per coin (e.g. $50,000 for Bitcoin) and your selling price per coin.
  3. 3 Use the interactive range sliders below the inputs to adjust the purchase and selling prices dynamically and see profits shift in real time.
  4. 4 Specify your buy and sell transaction fees (either as a percentage or a flat dollar fee).
  5. 5 The result panel displays your net profit/loss in green or red, accompanied by your percentage ROI and the exact break-even price.

Formula

Total Buy Fee = (Buy Price x Coin Quantity) x (Buy Fee % / 100) or Flat Buy Fee. Total Cost = (Buy Price x Coin Quantity) + Total Buy Fee. Total Sell Fee = (Sell Price x Coin Quantity) x (Sell Fee % / 100) or Flat Sell Fee. Gross Exit Value = Sell Price x Coin Quantity. Net Exit Value = Gross Exit Value - Total Sell Fee. Net Profit/Loss = Net Exit Value - Total Cost. ROI = (Net Profit / Total Cost) x 100. Break-Even Price = (Buy Price x Coin Quantity + Buy Fee) / (Coin Quantity x (1 - Sell Fee % / 100)).

Example calculation

If you invest $1,000 at a coin price of $50,000, you purchase 0.02 coins. With a 0.1% buy fee ($1) and a 0.1% sell fee ($1.20) when selling at $60,000, your total cost is $1,001, your net payout is $1,198.80, leaving a net profit of $197.80 (19.76% ROI). Your break-even selling price is $50,100.10.

Frequently asked questions

Why is calculating the break-even price important?

Crypto transaction fees can add up quickly, especially on high-frequency trading platforms. The break-even price tells you the exact market price you need to sell at so that your gross return covers both buying and selling transaction fees, preventing a net loss.

What is the difference between maker and taker fees?

Maker fees are charged when you add liquidity to the order book (e.g., limit orders), while taker fees are charged when you remove liquidity (e.g., market orders). Taker fees are usually slightly higher. This calculator lets you input whichever fee rate applies to your trade.

Does this calculator support decimals for meme coins?

Yes. You can enter fractional prices (e.g. $0.00012) and fractional quantities (e.g. 5,000.5) to calculate profits for low-value altcoins or fractional Bitcoin/Ethereum purchases.
