What is Age Calculator?
An age calculator computes your exact age from your date of birth to today or any other target date. Beyond years, it breaks down your age into months, weeks, days, and even total minutes. It also calculates how many days remain until your next birthday.
How to use
- 1 Enter your date of birth using the date picker.
- 2 The Age at Date field defaults to today — leave it as is for your current age.
- 3 To calculate age at a specific past or future date, change the Age at Date field.
- 4 Read your age in years, months, and days from the main result.
- 5 The three cards below show your total age in months, weeks, and days.
Example calculation
Someone born on April 15, 1990, calculated on June 21, 2026, is 36 years, 2 months, and 6 days old. That equals approximately 435 total months, 1,892 total weeks, and 13,251 total days. Their next birthday is 298 days away.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the day count differ slightly between calculators?
Day counts can vary depending on how leap years are handled and whether the calculation is inclusive or exclusive of the start or end date. This calculator counts the total elapsed days between the two dates.
Can I calculate someone else's age at a historical date?
Yes. Enter their date of birth and then change the Age at Date field to any past or future date. This is useful for historical research, legal documents, or understanding age at specific life events.
Why does the next birthday counter sometimes show 366?
When your birthday falls on February 29 (leap day) and the next occurrence of that date is two years away, the counter shows the days until the next February 29, which can be up to 4 years away.
Is this calculator accurate for very old dates?
The calculator handles dates going back several centuries, but accuracy depends on the browser correctly parsing older date strings. For genealogical or historical research, double-check results against a calendar reference.
How is the months and days breakdown calculated?
The calculator first counts full years, then remaining full months, then remaining days. If the day of the month in the end date is earlier than the birth day, it borrows from the previous month to avoid a negative day count.
