Currency Converter

Convert between 15 major world currencies using approximate reference rates. Update rates manually for precision.

Rates are approximate and static. For live rates, an API key is required.

What is Currency Converter?

A currency converter lets you calculate the equivalent value of an amount in one currency expressed in another. Exchange rates represent how much of one currency you receive per unit of another and fluctuate continuously based on markets. This tool uses static reference rates that give a reliable approximation; for precise financial transactions always check a live rate source.

How to use

  1. 1 Enter the amount you want to convert in the Amount field.
  2. 2 Select the source currency in the From dropdown.
  3. 3 Select the target currency in the To dropdown.
  4. 4 The converted amount and a full table of all supported currencies appear instantly.
  5. 5 Click Edit rates to update the exchange rates to current market values.

Example calculation

To convert 100 US dollars to Indian rupees at a rate of 83.5 INR per USD: 100 USD / 1 (USD rate) × 83.5 (INR rate) = 8350 INR.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the exchange rates static?

Live exchange rate data requires a paid API subscription. The rates shown are approximate reference values. For exact amounts in financial decisions, use your bank or a live rates service.

What is a base currency?

In this converter all rates are expressed as how many units of each currency equal 1 US dollar. The USD acts as the base, so converting between any two non-USD currencies goes via USD internally.

What is the difference between exchange rate and conversion rate?

Exchange rate refers to the price at which one currency trades for another on foreign exchange markets. Conversion rate is a broader term sometimes used to mean the same thing in financial contexts.

How do I update the rates to today values?

Click the Edit rates button above the converter, update the values for the currencies you care about, then click Save rates. Your custom rates are stored locally in the browser.

What currencies are supported?

This converter includes USD, EUR, GBP, INR, JPY, CAD, AUD, CHF, CNY, SGD, AED, MXN, BRL, ZAR, and SEK. You can edit the rates panel to adjust any of these values.
