Formula

BMI = weight(kg) / height(m)². Target weight = 24.9 × height(m)². Weight to lose = current weight − target weight. Timeline: weight to lose ÷ 0.75 kg/week (midpoint of 0.5–1 kg/week range).

Example calculation

A 5'8" person weighing 200 lbs (90.7 kg): height = 1.727 m. BMI = 90.7 / 1.727² = 30.4. Target weight = 24.9 × 1.727² = 74.3 kg (163.6 lbs). Weight to lose = 16.4 kg. Timeline ≈ 22 weeks at 0.75 kg/week.
