What is Business Days Calculator?
A business days calculator counts only weekdays (Monday through Friday) between two dates, skipping weekends. It's essential for estimating project delivery times, contract deadlines, payroll periods, and legal filing windows where calendar days and working days differ significantly.
How to use
- 1 Enter a start date and an end date.
- 2 Optionally check 'Exclude US holidays' to skip 6 major federal holidays.
- 3 The result shows business days, total calendar days, and weekends in the range.
Formula
Example calculation
From January 2, 2025 to January 31, 2025 there are 22 business days (31 calendar days minus 8 weekend days minus New Year's Day on January 1 which falls outside the range — 1 holiday if counting Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 20).
Frequently asked questions
Which holidays are excluded?
New Year's Day (Jan 1), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (3rd Monday of Jan), Memorial Day (last Monday of May), Independence Day (Jul 4), Labor Day (1st Monday of Sep), Thanksgiving (4th Thursday of Nov), and Christmas (Dec 25).
Are partial days counted?
No. The start date is included and the end date is included if it falls on a weekday. Both are counted as full days.
Does this handle leap years?
Yes. The date loop uses JavaScript's Date object which natively handles leap years and DST transitions.
