What is Countdown Calculator?
A countdown calculator measures the exact time remaining until a future event — broken down into days, hours, minutes, and seconds. It updates live every second. If the target date has already passed, it switches to 'X days ago' mode. A visual progress bar is shown when the event is within one year.
How to use
- 1 Enter the target date (and optionally a time) in the date/time field.
- 2 Optionally give your event a name so the display is personalised.
- 3 The countdown starts immediately and ticks every second.
- 4 If the date is in the past, the display shows how long ago it was.
Example calculation
Counting down to December 25, 2025 from June 22, 2025 gives 186 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes remaining — assuming midnight on Christmas day as the target.

Does the timer keep ticking if I leave the tab open?
