What is Grade Calculator?
A grade calculator computes your weighted average across multiple assignments, exams, or categories. Each item has a score, a maximum possible score, and a weight. The result is a percentage, a letter grade (A–F), and the GPA equivalent on a 4.0 scale.
How to use
- 1 Enter a name, your score, the maximum score, and the weight percentage for each assignment.
- 2 Click 'Add assignment' to add more rows.
- 3 Weights do not need to sum to 100 — they are normalized automatically.
- 4 Results appear instantly as you type.
Formula
Example calculation
A midterm worth 40% where you scored 78/100, and a final worth 60% where you scored 85/100 gives a weighted average of (0.78×40 + 0.85×60) / 100 = 82.2% — a B.
Frequently asked questions
What if my weights don't add up to 100?
The calculator normalizes weights automatically, so you can enter relative weights (e.g., 1, 2, 3) or percentages that don't sum to exactly 100.
What GPA scale is used?
The standard US 4.0 scale: A=4.0, A−=3.7, B+=3.3, B=3.0, B−=2.7, C+=2.3, C=2.0, C−=1.7, D+=1.3, D=1.0, F=0.0.
