Time Card Calculator

Calculate weekly work hours, regular hours, overtime, and gross pay from daily in/out times.

What is Time Card Calculator?

The Time Card Calculator computes daily and weekly work hours from clock-in and clock-out times. It subtracts lunch breaks, separates regular hours (up to 40) from overtime, and calculates gross pay at your hourly rate.

How to use

  1. 1 Enter the clock-in and clock-out times for each day of the week.
  2. 2 Enter the lunch break duration in minutes for each day (0 if no break).
  3. 3 Enter your hourly rate to calculate gross pay.
  4. 4 Click Calculate to see daily hours, total weekly hours, and pay breakdown.
  5. 5 Days with no entries are automatically skipped.

Formula

Daily hours = (clock-out − clock-in) − lunch break. Total hours = sum of all daily hours. Regular hours = min(total, 40). Overtime hours = max(total − 40, 0). Gross pay = regular × rate + overtime × rate × 1.5.

Example calculation

Mon–Fri, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with 30 min lunch = 8 hrs/day × 5 days = 40 hrs. At $20/hr: $800 regular pay, $0 overtime.

Frequently asked questions

When does overtime start?

This calculator uses the US federal standard of overtime after 40 hours per week at 1.5× the regular rate. Some states use daily overtime rules.

What if I work past midnight?

Enter times spanning midnight by entering the end time as the next calendar day. The calculator handles times where out is earlier than in by adding 24 hours.

Is the overtime rate always 1.5×?

US federal law requires 1.5× for hours over 40/week. Some states and contracts pay 2× for hours over 12/day or 60/week — consult your employer.

Does this include taxes?

No — gross pay is shown before any deductions. Net pay depends on your tax situation, benefits, and other withholdings.

Can I use this for biweekly pay?

This calculator covers one 7-day workweek. For biweekly pay, run it twice and add the results together.
