What is Unit Price Calculator?

A unit price calculator converts different package sizes and units into a common price-per-unit so you can instantly spot which item offers the best value. It supports weight (oz, g, kg, lb), volume (ml, L), and count units, normalising everything to a common base for an apples-to-apples comparison.

How to use

  1. 1 Enter a name, price, quantity, and unit for each item you want to compare.
  2. 2 You can compare up to 4 items at once.
  3. 3 The calculator converts all items to the same base unit and highlights the best value in green.

Formula

Price per base unit = Price ÷ (Quantity × conversion factor to base unit)

Example calculation

A 16 oz bag for $3.99 costs $0.249/oz. A 2 lb bag for $5.49 is 32 oz and costs $0.172/oz — the better deal by 31%.

Frequently asked questions

What base units are used for comparison?

Weight items compare per gram, volume items per milliliter, and count items per unit. The displayed price per unit is shown in the original unit for readability.

Can I compare items with different unit types?

No — you can only compare items within the same unit category (weight vs. weight, volume vs. volume). Mixing types would produce meaningless comparisons.

What if two items have the same unit price?

Both are highlighted as equally good value.
